Sam & Lori

Sam always knew she would work with creative people. After graduating from Ithaca College with a film and photography degree she moved to LA to work in the film industry. After several months, countless phone calls and a lot of pavement pounding, she landed her first job at Chelsea Pictures. Soon after, Castle Rock came calling and she was on her way to learning the inner workings of production on her first feature film.

But being a native of Brooklyn, she missed the cold east coast winters and pushy New Yorkers and returned to the city to work in production, making commercials for several years. It was there she realized the perfect alchemy of her experience and passions — production and advertising — to become a creative recruiter, where she met her current partner, Lori. In 2001, Sam and Lori hung their sign on the door and opened as Sam & Lori Associates.

Sam lives with her husband, three young daughters, a Labrador, and a cat in Croton-on-Hudson, where she has a pond, chickens, and a barn and pretends she lives in Vermont.

Lori graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Radio/TV/Film and an almost minor degree in Psychology. At the ripe old age of 21, Lori became one of the youngest people hired into the training program at The William Morris Agency in NYC. After six rounds of interviews, she could now push a mail cart. After 3 years, Lori decided that the business of entertainment was not her calling, but that counseling creative people and matching the right talent with the right opportunity very much was. She left the glamour of NY Hollywood behind and joined a recruitment firm that worked within the advertising industry. There she met Sam.



In 2001, she and Sam founded Sam & Lori Associates, which specialized in placing traditional and digital creative talent within the advertising industry. In 2007, Sam & Lori expanded their offering by adding an account management division. Over the last 15 years, Lori has worked tirelessly to make sure that her clients and candidates are treated with respect and superior service. 



Born and bred in Manhattan, Lori lives on the Upper West Side with her husband, two young children, Felix, the cat, and three fish, SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward. R.I.P. Spinner, the Hamster.

Ari graduated from Wesleyan University with a very practical degree in Romance Languages and Literature and an NCAA medal in women’s rowing (or in her case, coxing.) Immediately post-graduation, she joined the Public Theater as a casting intern, and spent the subsequent years casting for a variety of film, tv, and theatrical projects including the Broadway production of SCHOOL OF ROCK, the HBO series THE UNDOING, and Steven Spielberg’s film adaptation of WEST SIDE STORY. Her passion for cultivating relationships and forging connections with creative people is what led her to Sam & Lori in the summer of 2021, where she acts as a creative recruiter within the design, branding, and digital realms.

Ari spends most of her life in New York City. When she’s not being inspired by talented creative people, you can probably find her biking around Brooklyn, perfecting her homemade ice cream recipe, or plotting her next big travel adventure.

A lapsed educational publishing professional and Barnard graduate, Genevieve joined sam & lori to provide administrative support and to help search for and track potential candidates. She has since gained an appreciation for the endless creativity evident in the advertising and branding realms, and enjoys finding the gems of clever copy and beautiful design in people’s portfolios.

UK born and New Jersey bred, Genevieve spent stints in NYC and SF before being married with children in the burbs of Northern Westchester, NY. When not considering the finer points of database categories and LinkedIn searches, she is out running the trails with her stubborn mutt, striving for daily genius status on the NYT Spelling Bee, or attempting to project manage her 3 kids.
